Love having only one job during he summer I get to read a book a day. Yesterday's book was The Emperor's Arrow . Written by Lauren D.M.Smith the winner of Harlequin's So you think you can write 2015. Yeah she can write. I loved the cover , was so happy it was not The Bachelor type story . There was competition so the Ruler Galen could choose himself a bride .Some female (cat fighting) nothing physical . Plots yes to overthrow the Ruler Galen so of course you get a little bit of everything. It was a pleasure to read . Yes gave it 5 crows . Off to search for another see what I can get in before work. Don't forget to read often even if its just a few lines.

Stolen Songbird by Danielle Jensen

Cecile had her life planned her dreams were about to come true . She was to go live with her mother and sing on stage. Being careless she gets kidnapped by Luc and sold to a Troll king. The king thinks that her being a human and bonding with his son they will break an ancient curse . A witch put a curse on them never to leave the underground to live in a a life of darkness . Cecile manages to have a choice to leave or stay and try to break the curse . She falls in love not only with Tristian the prince she is bonded to but with the half blood trolls that are fighting so hard to be free from the king and the curse. At first I thought this book is going to be boring . Was I surprised? Yes . To find out how I was hurrying to get things done so I could find out what would happen next . At times the Twins made me laugh. I can't wait to find out if the story continues it is really good.

The Forever Song sums it all up plus gives you a sneak peek at Ms. Kagawa's new Book Talon . I like Dragons so I'm ready .

Sunshine boy everyone's good son he decides to go a little off course and sleep with Marchent . The amazing beautiful women who inherited her uncles estate . He is writing the piece about him to help her sell it faster. Her uncle disappeared 10 yrs ago along with his friends never to be located. Rueben ends up loving the place the uncles work and is ready to buy the place himself. When tradegy strikes and Marchent dies along with her brothers and he is almost killed. She ends up leaving the estate to him. Rueben ends up having his life saved by a hairy creature and eventually gets to find out why he feels stronger is more larger in size. Rueben starts hearing peoples cries for help and he goes to help them . On one occasion he accidentley scratches the young man and he to becomes a wolf. Reuben feels he much help him understand . Rueben meets a woman who accepts him in wolf form and they move in together. Reuben's mother seeks help with a doctor then realizes the doctor is evil. Its to late and his friend try to capture the wolves but Marchent's uncle faked his death and comes back to help them. The story wasn't too bad it starts off really slow but picks up later. It ended rather quick after all was explained guess I'm greedy and wanted more.

The Department of Magic by Rod Kier Kegaard Jr

Farah and Rocky are competing for a job that they don't quite know what the job is yet . Their boss Crawly tells them it surveying he takes them to lunch then is killed. Farah and Roc decided to work together to find out what happened to Crawly.While doing this they stumble upon things they can't believe are true one of them being Crawly lives. Crawly introduces them to many things ,he teaches them how to survive against evil creatures that want to take over the world. Crawly wants to bring George Washington back to life. He believes with the right magic and alignment of the moon and stars and buildings and such it will work and George will save America. Rocky fathers a baby with Bobbi ,Farahs best friend who gets turned into a vampire by the man who wants to rule the world. They have to take care of the half vampire /human baby which is very hard. Roc and Farah fall in love as they manage to take care of the baby. They go on dangerous capers and get attacked but seem to survive Now do they save the world? Maybe I thought this story was very well organized in time. Meaning extremely creative,linking vampires and the destruction of America back to George Washington. Of course there has always been magic but not that anyone has ever believed it or actually admitted it I really enjoyed the story. All the lining up of the stars confused me when they brought George back to life but I understand why. For me that;s all that matters. I'm hoping there is another book I didn't want it to end the way it did not knowing. Would love to know how Tink grows up. All the creatures out there we don't notice are hard to believe but I might walk a little faster past people with a shopping cart on 5th st.

Freya doesn't want to be an Alien baby maker. She is becoming one with the receptor . Her one night with Damien whom she is now in love with finds her pregnant .She also finds out some disturbing news about Damien . Finn is hurt but continues to stand by her side. In a battle Damien gets captured . Finn and Freya meet two humans living freely in space and they allow Finn and Freya to rescue Damien. They all go to Space to live as humans where Damien has a hard time fitting in.Some how the Alien leader finds out about Freya and wants her back or the Plantations and all children will die so Freya surrenders . Making Finn promise to take care of Tobias her son and Pip if anything happens to her. I'm so ready for the next one , I stayed up late to finish this now to I think I might be out of order but as a Christmas present Hubby said to get Daphne . So I know I can't go wrong starting that tonight.

The Iron Traitor by Julie Kagawa

Ethan goes back in the Never Never to help Keirrian find a cure to save Annwyln from fading. Of course Kenzie has to follow. Ethan gets a glimpse into the future which is him being killed or dying with his nephew Keirran standing above him. Now he knows Keirran has powers and loves Annwyln enough to die for her but will Ethan make a bond with Keirran and go aganist all he stands for considering the fey becasuse of family and friends? I jumped right into this book after reading The Lost Prince these are that good.

The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa

Ethan Chase Meghan's little brother thinks he is home free just having to deal with Them. As long as he keeps to himself he should be safe. But he ends up back in the Never never . This time he has skills a few and a girl that has stolen his heart. He also discovers a secret about his family which he is loyal to keeping safe. I loved reading the crossover between human and faery time lines. Gives you hope and a place to escape to I guess. Thanks to Netgalley I was able to get a jump on the Iron Traitor.

Dare You To by Katie McGarry

Beth has had a hard life growing up , her Uncle Scott rescues her and tries giving her a better life. Beth is in constant battle with her feelings of love,trust and loyalty to her mother and her friends she left behind. She realizes she can actually live the Good life have decent friends that care for her and trust and love a male that won't hurt her. It takes a while but finally it all comes together . This book was really down to earth in lots of ways . The characters had feelings they just didn't go from page to page sitting there. They had real life situations that happen today . Reading this could really help someone their age realize they have choices and options if they take the time to sort them out. I will definitely read something else written by Katie McGarry. I stayed up late two nights but it was worth being sleepy at work.

The Borrowed Soul By Adrienne Gordon

Elaine is back after being tortured but will not give up trying to remember her past and what she was. She is determined to free herself and not forsake her original crew. I really enjoyed reading this. Mr.Gordon includes so much in his stories you try not to think about it too much because its pleasure reading. Only problem is he makes you , he combines fantasy with facts that make you wonder. Mind control,manipulation you don't need machines for that.Scary,soon your talking to yourself out loud Yikes! Oh I just love it better than a movie at times. Wanting more Oh yes! Will we get it ? I hope so hmm let me write a letter to the Manipulator.

Happiness, joy, sorrow, triumph ,love and hate so many emotions you feel when you read Oceans of Red . I enjoyed volumes one and two because the characters were growing into who they should be. Remy accepts being the Chosen One now in Oceans Three . Her siblings Greg and Shane help her acquire an army to help save the world from Lilith. However when she tries to unite with Daelen and the Collective she feels as Daelen is trying to control her so she cuts him off without learning any more. Is it control or love? She finds a new attraction in Ryan a soldier who feels very protective of her.

I'm thinking oh here we are getting so much in this story a little bit of everything love war and hopefully peace . Who will save the day I can't wait to find out in Invading Hell.

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

Here I haven't finished the Iron Fey series and I went and jumped head first into Ms. Kagawa's Vampire series . I sure wasn't disappointed at all . I didn't think I would be. I think tonight before I go to sleep I'll be reading The Eternity Cure. Immortally Amazing. Julie Kagawa writes a truly wonderful vampire story even though there are so many out there this one can stand alone. In a land where Vampires rule the cities and humans are kept inside for food and pets because the Red Lung disease killed both vamps and humans . One Master Vampire ruled in Covington though there were a few still left. They are a dying breed because when they create offspring there is a chance the offspring will become rabid because of the disease . Rabids live outside the city and feed off the humans until they expire. Allison Setemoko belonged to a gang of four stumbled underground outside the city one night and found a stash of food. Food was scare so she took her gang to get the canned goods but night fell and they were caught by rabids and attacked . Allison was lucky a Master found her and gave her a choice even thought she hated all vampires and what they did she said yes when asked to live as one. Now she must learn to survive as a monster she hates claiming to herself she will not bae as heartless as them . With Kanin the master vamp who turned her to help train her maybe she could survive and find out why he was hiding and not claiming a city and running for his life instead. A group of people searching for a cure trying to stay alive and not get infected by rabid creatures on their way the promise land. I enjoyed it loved all the characters also loved that just because groups get labeled doesn't mean everyone in the group is the same. All people can choose to be different . Thanks Ms. Kagawa .

Transitional Elements by Adrienne Gordon

When I read books by this author I always look for the other meaning that is really behind the story he writes . He is so creative that way its what I enjoy about his books. Like getting two for one. It might be a fantasy story but there is a purpose that makes you think about reality and the life we live today. Jonadon is sort of a terminator sent to planets to infiltrate them finding out their weakness so they can be taken over and replaced with a Malsun and be ruled or destroyed. Since Jonadon has lost his love his wife he has no hope so he doesn't care who gets hurt or how many die in the process. Usually he gets a female to fall in love with him and when the time comes for the Malsun to take over he turns the other way and just leaves. This time he meets his match Hajlin seems to know his plans but has hope spending time with him he will see that what he is doing is not right. When the time comes what will this traitor do? Will he choose love over duty did he learn hope and faith from Hajlin's people? Guess you better read it . Story is not long and really good you may get something different out of it than I did. I would love to know what you thought.

Ghost Diaries case 1 by Willow Cross

Sarah was a young innocent girl who becomes ill after her father buys her a silver trinket box. He trades some food for the box from a strange unkempt fellow who seems to think Sarah is perfect for the trinket box. As we read the entries to a few diaries it seems as if a demon was using her for his pleasure. Making her life seem odd and as if she was going crazy she talked to him he had a name .She ended up being unkempt and evil like and all the help left them there alone just her and her mother and father. Since this is the first case I'm anxious to see if the other cases are related . Maybe the trinket box is still out there circulating and possessing others. A friend of mine gave me a silver metal box it disappeared a while ago I'm not sure I want to find it now. I enjoyed reading the diary entries makes the book different then others out there. As always Willow Cross has me guessing ,was it real was it fake ? Who and what are in Case 2 of Ghost Diaries I'm waiting cause I'm possessed to reading Willow Cross.

Desolace by Lucian Barnes

First you have a serial killer and two typical teenage girls Julie and Katie. One night playing with a Ouija board call up a victim ghost and follow her to the killer. The girls feel no one will believe them its their old bus driver so they stay quite. Katie doesn't mention a word even after her best friend Julie gets kidnapped by the killer. Instead she sets off with the ghost and a friend,from the spirit world I guess Edward to find her hopefully in time. The killer hears a voice telling him what to do. Get more humans to put to work making metal creatures . Must admit I was confused kept waiting for it all to be in the killers head . So now I'm traveling to Haven to get my answers. I did stay up late reading it ,I did enjoy it and I hope to find out if Julie is still alive and what purpose the metal creatures play and how it all joins together .

The Horror Challenge by @JH GLaze

A group of short stories These are great stories for right before its time to turn off the light. I found though reading one just wasn't good enough. They start off with a Spooky Piano giving a woman who lost her mother some financial help plus good memories. To a man traveling to space in a his last attempt to keep his smelly old comfy chair and save the world while watching Star Trek reruns . I wonder was he wearing a red suit? Ends with a Damsel in Distress being a creature a man saves of course the humans are ignorant to creatures of other worlds. My favorite is Cable Bill these are great to read while cooking dinner also I shouldn't burn anything think I'll save Horror Challenge Two just for that. Grab a copy for yourself .

Candlewax by C. Bailey Sims

Princess Catherine of Crystallia was to be wed to the Candlewax King who she thought was stiff as what else candle wax. So she ran a way and upon her journey she bumped into a very large cat a Fairrier. Catherine thought these fairrier cats were only in her grandmothers fairytales. Pokos for short reconized Catherine by the pendant her grandmother gave her he told her of her legacy. The pendant was a talisman and she was Catherine of the Ancient Onyxes she would save the country of Lackanay. They had to travel to Cinna and bring back other Fairrers like Pokos to keep the Todliks from eating up everything in their site. Catherine wants to marry for love so she agrees to go with Pokos but Kallik an evil Ruler and killer of Fairrers wants to stop her and tries to kidnap her but the Candlewax King recues her. Catherine meets up with some others and together they try to fulfill her legacy while others try to help Kallik take over Candlewax and capture all the big cats. Along the journey Catherine and the Candlewax King fall in love much to their surprise.


I really enjoyed this book it was very interesting . It was kind of in the future yet days of old. Having a gate to cross like time travel speaking in mind only then having an arrow contest to solve a disagreement to the death . I was entertained from start to finish I can't wait for the next one so glad Pokos made it and hope he gives Kallik a hard way to go .

She is trying to end the years long spell that was put on Lord Micah's family as they were children. Her father was a
monster and would use her in cruel ways to cast spells. She looked at Micah and couldn't believe her eyes he wasn't ugly
as others said because of being in charge of the Abyss where servants of evil were banished to suffer eternal torment.
To Liliana he was a prince charming dressed in his battle protective wear he is forced to wear. Micah was surprised to
find someone brave enough to enter his castle so he put her in the dungeon. She can cook so he lets her and they grow
care about each other. Micah falls in love with her and will give his life for her Liliana can't believe it because
all she has ever been told is how ugly she is. They travel together to kill her father and save their land and lift the
spell. The people that he has had control over begin to realize that he is not as nasty as they thought and its not
because he gives them gifts for their help. He also proves that he cares for more then himself.




I really enjoyed the book from beginning to end had lots of action in all aspects . Micah found
love in Lily ,it was hard for him to let her know. She couldn't believe it because her father always told her she was ugly.
Sometimes feelings can't be told out loud but you can always show them in your actions. There was an extra read at the end

Covet by Felicity Heaton my first Erotica review

Stay Heated until the end.

I started reading this book and thought Oh its just the usual same old same old. Boy was I fooled. Javier and Lilah just burn off the pages. There has to be more to their story ,the club alone sounds so interesting. The character Snow doesn't even cool off anything in this book. The forbidden love that catches fire the way Ms. Heaton writes it leaves nothing to imagine their strong desire and pent up love for each other once they act on it. Wishing there is more to come as Lilah is turned . I can only hope . Thanks for the ARC.

I didn't want to give much of the story away to spoil it for everyone but I would love to read more about the character Snow. The way it was written he was sounding maybe evil but no way I believe there is a loving man there just needing the right woman am I a romantic nah! who me?

Unseen By Heather Graham my book review

The FBI has some unsolved murder cases linked to Rose Langley and the Alamo. Rose was supposed to have been kidnapped and murdered by Matt Meyer in room 207 at the Longhorn Hotel in San Antonio. Rose was hiding the Galveston diamond he wanted and she wouldn't give up. Agent Jackson Crow is sent to form a team of Special agents to find the killer of these woman who all seemed linked together. A woman was murdered recently in room 207 but the body was never recovered. Logan Raintree a Texas ranger and Wind Spirit lost his wife because he couldn't get to her in time and she died he is being considered leading the team he talks to ghosts. So does Kelsey O'Brien she was sent to consider a job offer ,currently a U.S.Marshall living in Florida. She is staying at the Longhorn Hotel because her childhood friend Sandy now owns it. Birds have a odd way of showing up crows mostly and they also get some help from a very old ghost they both see and talk to from the Alamo who is in love with Rose.Logan and Kelsey grow into a relationship while they work on the case. Kelseys friend Sandy disappears . Lots of things are going on in town a documentary of the Alamo ,a rodeo . More people are called in for the team even though no one really says they are a team they all work the case to solve the crimes. The ending is wonderful and leaves us once again with recipes.


I was roped from the beginning I do believe some in not seeing ghosts but feeling passed on family members presence in my home. I love to get to the bottom of a mystery even if its who left the coffee spilled on the kitchen floor for me to clean up.

Unseen starts off as a mystery for the two main characters because they are on a interview for a job not even knowing what's going on . Once they find out of course they are in but don't really say Yes they'll take the job. Their Special abilities are never really mentioned at the meeting . During the investigation they are always professional enjoying each others company on and out of work. Logan and Kelsey seem to fall in love but its never said just assumed they care for each other.I really did enjoy the story and only figured out the one killer but not til the end the other surprised me . I really do enjoy the recipes at the end just love Heather Grahams idea of that . Yet who killed the drowned woman ? Must go back and read it again think I missed something.
